Yes — the free tier is a complete product, not a demo: 30 curated teas with full brewing data, the Western brewing timer, favorites and your collection, daily tea insights, and personalized recommendations. Premium adds the full 176-tea + 80 seasonal library, unlimited AI tea identification, and Gong Fu multi-infusion timers.
Yes. All brewing data lives on your phone and the timers run entirely on-device — airplane mode halfway up a mountain is fine. The web timers on this site also keep working offline once the page has loaded.
Western brews one big cup: more water, less leaf, one or two long steeps. Gong Fu uses a small pot, more leaf, and many short infusions that evolve from steep to steep. Teafinity carries both schedules for every tea and times each infusion separately — including the rinse.
It's genuinely good — and honest about its limits. It works best on dry leaves and packaging, shows you its confidence with every match, and lets you correct it. A photo of brewed tea in a mug is a much harder ask, and it will say so rather than bluff.
Fair question, and we'd rather answer it than hide it. Early Android builds gated too much behind the paywall, and reviewers rightly called it out. That's fixed: the free tier now includes 30 full teas and the brewing timer, and the pricing section above states exactly where the paywall line sits. The 4.9★ App Store rating reflects the current app; the Android score is still catching up to it.
